Concern Worldwide Kenya and Mukuru Slums Development Projects (MSDP) in partnership with USAID has today launched the FERN Project an initiative which is part of the United States Government pledge to support Kenya during the recent flooding crisis that displaced Kenyans from their homes especially those living along river bank.
The project supported by USAID is focused on helping affected communities in the Mukuru informal settlement through vital Non-Food Item (NFI) distributions for a period of six months and cash assistance of four thousand five hundred for a period of four months to each household affected to enable them rebuild their lives afresh.
According to Ann Muthoni the project manager in mukuru over seven thousand eight hundred needy households are set to benefit from the project.The focus is on those affected by floods in slums areas of Mukuru,Makadara,Ruaraka,Mathare,korogosho and Embakasi south .
